Hànyáng 漢陽 had existed as a distinct geographical entity since the Five Dynasties, and in the late Qīng and Republican periods was an important location because of the Hànyáng Arsenal 漢陽兵工廠 and the Hànyáng Ironworks 漢陽鐵廠.

• Guīyuán Temple 歸元寺
  • Chísōng 持松 received tonsure here in 1912
  • Cízhōu 慈舟 (1877-1958) received tonsure here in 1910
