Chénkōng 塵空 (1908-1979) was a prolific writer whose works often appeared in the periodical Hǎicháoyīn 海潮音.

Biography

Chénkōng was tonsured by one Fúhuì 福惠 in 1918 at Yùquán Temple 玉泉寺 in Dāngyáng county 當陽縣. There he received a classical education, and in 1925 took the full precepts at Zhānghuá Temple 章華寺 in Chángshā 長沙. In 1929 he began classes at the Wǔchāng Buddhist Seminary 武昌佛學院, later studying at the Bǎilín Institute 柏林教理院 in Běipíng 北平.[1] In 1932 he followed his teacher Fǎfǎng 法舫 to Wǔchāng where they established the library of the World Buddhist Studies Center 世界佛學苑.
