Chinese General Buddhist Association (Zhōnghuá Fójiào zǒnghuì 中華佛教總會)

History

  • 1912 - ??; 1917 - 1919 (as the Chinese Buddhist Association 中華佛教會)
  • Location(s): Běijīing 北京

An early pan-Chinese Buddhist association set up by Jìchán 寄禪 and others, including Dàojiē 道階, on April 1, 1912. It never received official recognition. It was transformed into the Chinese Buddhist Association 中華佛教會 in 1917, but was disbanded by police in Běijīing 北京 in 1919 for having been established illegally.

Zhìkāi 治開 was named president in 1913.
