One of the two earliest Buddhist periodicals published in China.

Contained scholarship, art, literature, Q&A, Buddhist news. Cài Yuánpéi 蔡元培,Oūyáng Jìngwú 歐陽竟無,and Dìxián 諦閑 all published important expositions there. Some monks published careful scholarship there, and Yìnguāng 印光 used the periodical to promote Pure Land Buddhism. It was very successful and its style was imitated by later magazines.
