Wǔtái Shān 五台山

This Mountain is one of the Four Famous (Buddhist) Mountains 四大名山 of China and is thus one of the most important pilgrimage sites in China. Home to many temples, it has been and remains important for followers of both Tibetan and Hàn Buddhisms. it was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. There are currently nearly 50 temples on and around the mountain. Major ones are listed below.
