Guǎngzhōu 廣州 is the capital of Guǎngdōng 廣東 Province, and was one of the first cities opened to European traders. The city was an important base of revolutionary activity in the early twentieth century, providing a seat of power from which the Nationalists consolodated their power.

• Temple of the Six Banyan Trees 六榕寺
• Néngrén Temple 能仁寺 on Báiyún Mountain 白雲山
  • Mànshūjiēdì 曼殊揭諦 was abbot of this temple in the 1930s
