Bólín Institute: Bólín jiàolǐ yuàn 柏林教理院

A Buddhist seminary 佛學院 established in the summer of 1930 at Bólín 柏林 Temple in Beijing by Tàixū 太虛 and Táiyuán 台源, the abbot of that temple. The head of the Institute was Chángxǐng 常惺. He was assisted by Fǎfǎng 法舫, who, at Tàixū's behest, brought the World Buddhist Studies Center 世界佛學苑 to Beijing from Wuchang. Students from the Bólín Institute focused on Japanese language, while the students from Wuchang focused on English.

After the incursion of Japanese forces into northern China following the Mukden incident of Septebmer 18, 1931 [1], funds for the Center dried up. As a result, Fǎfǎng and the World Buddhist Center returned to Wuchang.
