History
By the Republican period Nanputuo Temple was already a major temple for the region. In 1924 under the leadership of the abbot Zhuǎnféng 轉逢 it was changed into a public monastery (shífāng cónglín 十方叢林) that welcomed visiting monks from all temples. The next year the Minnan Buddhist Seminary 閩南佛學院 was established on the grounds of the temple.
