Major Buddhist Schools

In the first half of the 20th century, a number of Buddhist schools were revived, while other schools continued to thrive. As with Chinese Buddhism in other periods, an individual's association with one of these "schools" most often represented philosophical or practical affiliation, and did not necessarily imply creedal or sectarian commitment.
