A Buddhist seminary 佛學院 established in 1918 at Guānzōng Temple 觀宗寺 in Níngbō 寧波 by Dìxián 諦閑. The curriculum of the standard three-year course initially focused exclusively on the study of Buddhist scripture. Monks began studying traditional literature and other subjects from 1929. By the early 1930s the name of the school had been changed to the Academy for Spreading the Dharma 弘法學院. It ran until 1939.
