This Buddhist seminary [[佛學院]] was started by Zhènhuá [[震華]] shortly after he became abbot of Yùfó Temple [[玉佛寺]]. He was discouraged by the lackadaisical attitude he saw among the monks who sought shelter in Shànghǎi [[上海]] during the Second Sino-Japanese War.

During the war this seminary published the periodical ''Miàofǎ lún'' [[妙法輪]]. After the war, Tàixu1 [[太虛]] and Fúshàn [[福善]] published the magazine ''Juéqún zhōubào'' [[覺群週報]] here.
